Tragically Hick was formed in early 1999, not
long after Jack Loree (dobro) and Gord Armstrong (guitar) met.
Jack and Lorne Foster (mandolin) had known each other for
twenty-five years and played guitar together in several country bands over that time, Jack was quick to recruit Lorne and his new
found instrument (the mandolin) to join the band. The Hick group hit
bass playing "pay dirt" when they landed Bill Figeczki, a natural fit, in
2001. The band has been intact without change since that time.
Tragically Hick is an “acoustic” band playing
bluegrass, country, swing & pop music – an exciting repertoire of music
built around tight harmonies and tasteful instrumental breaks. Their vocal
harmonies stacked “bluegrass style” make for a unique and pleasant sound for
music of any genre.
